Some weddings make an impression through grand gestures. Others are all about the thoughtful little details, the colours, the atmosphere and the moments that happen when nobody is trying too hard.

Anna and Harry's wedding at Milwards Estate was a beautiful mix of simple elegance and playful personality. With an outdoor ceremony overlooking the lake, vibrant flowers, ribbons moving in the breeze and a few unexpected guests in the form of some very curious sheep, there was so much to love about this day.

It was the kind of wedding where the setting and styling felt considered, but never at the expense of having fun. And for us, that combination makes for some of the loveliest photographs.

An Outdoor Ceremony Overlooking the Lake

The grounds at Milwards Estate provided a beautiful backdrop for Anna and Harry's outdoor ceremony, with the lake setting the scene.

There's something special about an outdoor ceremony. The landscape becomes part of the experience, and the natural surroundings bring a sense of openness that can be difficult to recreate indoors.

Anna and Harry's day had a simplicity to it that we loved. Nothing needed to compete with the setting; instead, the surroundings, the people and the thoughtful details all came together to create something that felt quietly elegant.

Colour, ribbons and little details

One of our favourite things about photographing weddings is seeing how couples make a day their own.

Anna and Harry had thought about the little things, from ribbons tied around the ceremony chairs to a board where guests could draw pictures of themselves. These were personal touches that invited people to take part, rather than simply admire everything from a distance.

The ribbons were particularly lovely against the outdoor setting, moving in the breeze and adding a little movement to the scene. It's a small detail, but those are often the things that catch our eye as photographers: the way something shifts in the light, a detail interacting with its surroundings, or a moment that feels beautiful without being staged.

And then there were the flowers.

The vibrant bouquets and bridesmaid dresses brought a gorgeous burst of colour to the day. Against the natural greens of the estate, those brighter tones gave the photographs a real sense of life and character.

We love it when couples aren't afraid of colour. It doesn't need to be complicated to be striking, and Anna and Harry's choices showed just how much personality thoughtful styling can bring to a wedding.

Couple portraits, curious sheep and a tractor

Of course, no wedding story would be complete without a few moments that nobody could have planned.

The grounds offered plenty of pretty places for Anna and Harry's couple portraits, but some of the most memorable details came from the unexpected characters around them. Curious sheep made an appearance as spectators, while a tractor added another wonderfully distinctive touch to the surroundings.

We love these little moments because they bring a wedding gallery back to the reality of the day. Beautiful portraits matter, but so do the photographs that make you smile when you look back at them years later.

Our approach is to work with what's around us rather than force every moment into a particular mould. Sometimes that means taking advantage of a beautiful backdrop; sometimes it means embracing the sheep who seem just as interested in the proceedings as everyone else.

The result is a collection of photographs that feels connected to the actual place and the actual day, rather than a set of images that could have been taken anywhere.

Photographing Weddings at Milwards Estate

We love photographing weddings that give us the freedom to tell a story in our own way, noticing both the bigger picture and the small details that make a celebration unique.

Our approach combines a documentary eye for genuine moments with a thoughtful appreciation for composition, colour and light. We want couples to enjoy their wedding, spend time with their favourite people and trust us to notice the things they might not even realise are happening.

Anna and Harry's wedding had so many elements we love to photograph: a beautiful outdoor setting, personal details, bold colour and the sort of unexpected moments that make a gallery feel alive.

It's a reminder that elegance doesn't have to mean formal or overly polished. Sometimes it's the combination of considered details and a little unpredictability that makes everything come together.
